Life Lessons: Jacqueline Miller

JaM Life Lessons:
Jacqueline Miller

*Are you happy at the moment?

Yes, I am. I’ve raised two amazing sons, who I raised single-handedly following the sudden death of my husband on Super Bowl Sunday 2002. I’m now building the business of my dreams.

*If you could go back and say anything to your 16-year-old self now – what would it be?

Be happy with your body, you’ll wish for it to be that size in thirty years. Don’t play small, so that others can feel big.

*What’s the most important thing you’ve learned this year?

I have a gift for inspiring Moms to live their fullest lives and have learned how to build a business around that gift.

*What do you most want to achieve in the next 12 months?

To see my business skyrocket – in visibility and profitability. To be in a position to empower many women to pursue their dreams, while still being great Moms.

*What’s your secret to happiness?

Family and peace of mind. I love spending time with family. I’m also committed to existing in a no-drama, no stress zone. I choose wisely, whom I allow into my personal space.

*What one ritual or practice keeps you grounded?

The spa experience, especially hot stone massages and the smell of lavender. I strive to make this a monthly self-care treat.

*What’s your biggest regret?

Failing to be more proactive in my mother’s health care. Sadly, she passed away in a hospital that was recently rated the worst in its geographic area.

*What’s the most important lesson you’ve taught your kid(s)?

When it came to academics- “Good, better, best: never let them rest until the good is better and the better is best.”

*What bad habit would you most like to change about yourself?

Routinely giving people the benefit of the doubt, without requiring them to demonstrate that they’re worthy of such.

*Aside from motherhood/fatherhood and marriage what are you most proud of in your life?

Within this past year, I launched my company, authored and co-authored two bestselling books, hosted a weekly radio show and was featured on the front page of my local newspaper.

*When were you happiest?

Now. One son out of college, working at his dream company, another in college, soon to be a published author and I’ve been given a 2nd chance at love.

*What ten words best describe you?

Determined, Passionate, Imperfect, Driven, Sarcastic, Caring, Entrepreneurial, Competitive, Humorous, Confident

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
