Michael Tamez

*Are you happy at the moment?

Absolutely, I am in an amazing relationship with the love of my life. I live in a place I have always wanted to live. I have created a healthy mind, body, and spirit and I am in the midst of many incredible creative endeavors. I also have many “fans” in my life that support me.

*If you could go back and say anything to your 16-year-old self now – what would it be?

Wake UP! You have your whole life ahead of you and the choices you make now are going to have a significant impact on how your life turns out. You are going to have setbacks at some point but it is a part of learning and growing. Learn from the failures and let them guide you to your next success. There are endless opportunities for you. You are young, so don’t forget to have fun along the way!

*What’s the most important thing you’ve learned this year?

The most significant thing I have learned this year is the power in my words and how they can create or destroy my reality. No matter how much I want to force an outcome I must remain patient. I realized that there is nothing to worry about I should always trust that my life is on its best path.

*What do you most want to achieve in the next 12 months?

I am creating that I will appear as an expert guest on the Dr. Oz show. Also, I am creating that my book, “Transformative Nutrition: The Ultimate Guide to Healthy and Balanced Living” is a New York Times Bestseller.

*What’s your secret to happiness?

Following my passion and doing more of what I love to do. My happiness lies in creative pursuits and letting my natural self-expression speak.

*What one ritual or practice keeps you grounded?

What grounds me the most is slowing down and becoming present to my everyday life. I enjoy meditation, yoga and listening to reggae music, as well as cooking for my wife. These are the things keep me focused and calm.

*What’s your biggest regret?

Honestly, I have made peace with my past, but if I had to pick something I would say not continuing to develop myself as a professional baseball player. Because of my health transformation I discovered a new passion and that is to support people who struggle with their health and wellness. Because of this, I do not truly regret not pursuing my baseball career. Life had different and bigger plans for me.

*What’s the most important lesson you’ve taught your kid(s)?

My wife and I do not have children yet, but when we do, I believe the most important thing to teach them is that you can have, be, or do anything you want in your life. I would also teach them that regardless of skin color, language, religion, gender, sexual preference, etc. we are all part of one human family.

*What bad habit would you most like to change about yourself?

I have a bad habit of not listening enough. I would like to develop better listening skills and being more communicative.

*Aside from motherhood/fatherhood and marriage what are you most proud of in your life?

I am most proud of discovering and uncovering that my true passion in life is writing and bringing awareness to people about important and real topics.

*When were you happiest?

Right now!

*What ten words best describe you?

Intelligent, creative, courageous, charming, curious, indecisive, moody, innovative, introverted, and goofy!

Michael Tamez loves to share about his thirteen year transformational health journey. He was obese, had severe sleep apnea, high blood pressure, advanced gum disease, and a lot of resentment for himself. This was intensified tremendously when he lost five relatives in just eighteen months. Because of the tremendous impact these losses had on his life, Michael was forced to have unforeseen breakthroughs with the things that were the hardest to deal with in life. Not only did he reverse all of his adverse health conditions, but he also transformed the dysfunctional relationship he had to food, his lifestyle, and his true self.

After experiencing all of these devastating and life transforming deaths, he was highly inspired to write an empowering book about life! In Michael’s debut book, Transformative Nutrition, he describes his influential health journey in detail. As a certified Holistic Health Coach, Michael’s mission is to inspire a permanent shift in the way people eat, think, feel, live and love. Like his page on Facebook!

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
