Hey all Happy Monday! Are you a fan of UFC Fighting? Honestly, I am not but I am a fan of women’s fitness so I do know who Rhonda Rousey is. In case you do not, let me give you a quick primer. Rhonda Rousey is a mixed martial artist, actress and all around badass. She was undefeated… until this weekend when she lost a very public, high profile match against Holly Hohm. How on earth did that happen? Holly Hohm explained it best in a post-match interview with Fox sports.

New UFC champ Holly Holm gave an incredibly emotional interview after her shocking KO of Ronda Rousey. Posted by FOX Sports on Saturday, November 14, 2015

There were a couple of things that stuck out to me in this interview. The first thing was Holly Holm’s incredible gratitude after the match. She truly was humbled by the win, even though she worked hard for it. But the thing that stayed with me was this:

It doesn’t mater what odds are on paper, what’s happened before, you know, it matters what happens that moment. There’s a lot of times in practice, there’s times before and after the fight and when I get out there I think, you know what? The time’s right now. You gotta make it happen right now. Can’t be an hour ago, can’t be tomorrow, can’t be during practice. It has to be right now.”

And that’s really what it’s about isn’t it? It’s not about what happened in the past. It doesn’t matter what’s going to happen in the future. What matters is that particular moment.

The ultimate point is this: you have to believe you can do it. You have to believe you have a right, that you are equipped and the time is right. You have to be able to drown out extraneous noise and focus on the task at hand, as Holm did. It didn’t matter that she was the underdog. It didn’t matter that Rousey was undefeated. It didn’t matter that there may have only been four people who believed in her; the most important one was her! Holly Holm believed in herself.

So question for you as we move into the start of a new week.. do you believe in yourself? Do you believe that, no matter what anyone else says, you can get it done? Or have a right to try? Leave a comment here!

Now.. go and make that happen!
