Good Enough Mother: Random Wednesday

Good Enough Mother:

Random Wednesday

Have you ever had those mornings where you have so much to say that you can’t quite get it together to say it.

Have you ever worked so hard and have it seem like nothing was breaking in your favor? I’m going through a phase like that right now.

And it’s frustrating.

I am trying to handle business on more than a couple of fronts and I’m exhausted.

Couple that with money.. of lack thereof. As a blogger/brand, I get paid for the campaigns I do with people. Sadly their deadlines don’t coincide with my mortgage.

Or my meals.

Needless to say that creates quite a bit of consternation around here.

But I started thinking about some universal thoughts with regard to me.. they are a bit random so please bear with me.

I have a choice in every single thing I do from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed, I can choose. I can choose to be happy or I can choose to be miserable. I can choose to work hard or I can choose to take it easy. I can choose to be around people who lift me up or those who sap my strength (guess which one I'm going with?). The bottom line is I am not a victim just reacting to stuff; I am an active participant in my life, shaping it as I choose.

Inspiring and a gentle kick in the pants! I’ve been struggling for over a year…job loss in a declining industry, combined with major shifts in the skills needed in my discipline. Add to that age (over 50), and you get the picture. Finally embraced what you’ve been preaching…doing nothing will yield nothing. Just enrolled in my first professional development course and started on Monday. Also enrolled in my first MOOC and started that on Monday as well. Will it get me where I need to be? I don’t know…but I do know that doing nothing will get me nothing. Thanks for the inspiration.

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
