In Case You Missed It:
Friday Roundup

Happy Friday, GEM readers! Welcome to another [almost] weekend in the hot, HOT summer – well, at least it’s hot here. Here’s a quick run-down of some of the great pieces we shared with you this week . . .

Going on vacation with your kiddos can be the best thing ever and SO MUCH FUN! It can also be a heck of a lot of work at the same time. Of course, the reward of creating memories is priceless. If you have a child with special needs, this can sometimes add a different element of stress; Jackie P. gave some fabulous tips in last week’s 10 From GEM: Travelling with Special Needs Children that you won’t want to miss.

Dave shared a great story about the importance of stuffed animals in our childrens’ lives. It’s about the cutest thing ever when something as simple as a stuffed animal can provide so much comfort when kids need it most. Take a look at Our Story Begins: The Tale Of A Dog And A Monkey for a very sweet story.

Sometimes the craziest things can happen and when I re-tell the story to a friend, it almost sounds as though it was made up just because of the shear ridiculousness of it all. Wendy shared a good one this week; Single Mom Slice of Life: A Story Of Contacts, Alarms And The 911 Operator – go have a read and rest assured that you’re not the only one who has crazy adventures sometimes.

If you like a good thriller, you’re in luck because Pam has shared a great list in her Moms Must Read: 7 Chillers and Thrillers For the Whole Family – check them out!

This month marked the 60th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland so I shared some fun facts and a great video of something very special going on this year as part of the celebration. Take a look at Happy 60th Birthday, Disneyland!

Hope you enjoyed the roundup and that you all have a great weekend!

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
