5 New Cookbooks to Try this Holiday Season

It’s hard to believe that the holidays are here! I love books but do you consider cookbooks as books? I do and they make great gifts. To be sure, I like to give cookbooks as gifts but somehow I always manage to snag a new book for myself every year. After all, everyone eats, right?

The great thing about cookbooks is that their beautiful, mouthwatering illustrations make me feel like I can create anything. Also? Cookbooks look great on a coffee table and are great conversation starters, especially a cookbook about food from another culture. So let’s get started by examining 5 new cookbooks to try this holiday season; who knows, you may start a new tradition!

1. Make It Ahead! by Ina Garten

Ina Garten, aka the Barefoot Contessa, must be just like me in the kitchen; I love to do as much prep work as possible a day or two before an event so that I can enjoy my event and not feel trapped in the kitchen missing out on all the fun.
In Make It Ahead, each recipe includes clear instructions for what you can do ahead of time, and how far in advance, so you can cook with confidence and eliminate last-minute surprises. Make a pitcher of Summer Rosé Sangria filled with red berries, let it chill overnight for the flavors to develop, and you have a delicious drink to offer your friends the minute they arrive. Simmer a pot of Wild Mushroom & Farro Soup, enjoy a bowl for lunch, and freeze the rest for a chilly evening.
I'm not sure how long a pitcher of Sangria would last in my house, as I might be tempted to sample it to make sure it's quaffable before my guests arrive!

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
