MotivationMonday Morning Motivation:
5 Things To Help You Through A Monday (And Life!)

Hola my peeps!

Happy Monday! It’s the start of a REALLY big week around here. Some of you who follow me on Facebook know that I am making a pretty big TV appearance this week; ABC executives asked if I would guest co-host The View! Of course I said yes, so that’s where I will be this Thursday. Check your local listings and make sure to tune in.

In a funny coincidence, my sister, Tracy Syler-Jones, was in town last weekend and we went out to dinner, later stumbling upon this lounge in the city. Of course, we took it as a sign and, also of course, took a picture.

The appearance on The View is quite interesting with regard to timing. It reminds me that there is a time and a season for everything.

You see 7 years ago, my life was turned inside out and upside down. I was fired from my high-profile gig as one of the anchors on the CBS Early Show. As you know, I have spent the last several years (almost a decade now) rebuilding my life and career, starting with pouring my energy into Good Enough Mother.

TV is my first love and I always thought I would go back. And yet, as the years went on, it seemed opportunities that were once there, dried up and no new ones were on the horizon.

So I pressed on; Good Enough Mother flourished.. and so did I.

Then, when I least expected it, when I was not paying attention, came the call to fill in on The View.

I learned a lot in that time, about me and about life.

So for today’s Monday Morning Motivation, I want to share with you 5  of my favorite lessons.

5. You Won't Be Comfortable When You're Growing....

Another of my personal favorites and one I shared when I gave the commencement address at The Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU a few months back. Real growth hurts. Period. You are going to stretch beyond what you think you are capable of. You will feel as though it will break you. You will cry, doubt yourself and want to quit many times over. But if you set your mind to it and power through, you can do it. Not only that, you will grow in unimaginable ways.

Okay those are the things I learned over the years.. are there any you would add?

Oh and Happy Monday!
