Bratwurst on the grill

Summer Grillin’ Season Is Here…
Make It Easy With Johnsonville!

Hey now! My favorite time of year is HERE! It’s Summer and after the harsh winter we had here in the Northeast, we deserve a little sunshine, wouldn’t ya say?

That means it’s time to fire up the grill. Seriously, is there any smell more closely linked with the lazy, hazy days of summer than the grill? I think not.

Well, just in time for the warm weather and the burgeoning appetite of a teenage boy, the fine folks at Johnsonville asked me to give a few of their products a try.  They’ve got quite a selection of  grill mates, including Johnsonville Fully Cooked Grilling Links, Johnsonville Split Rope Sausage and the Johnsonville Chicken Sausage, with 50% less fat but still 100% of the juicy Johnsonville taste.

We decided to try the Beef Brats and Smoked Brats, and by we, I mean BUFF, because, as you know by now, I am not the cook in this fine establishment.

So hubby went out to our local grocery, picked up the Johnsonville sausages and made a little magic happen.

Here’s how that all went down:

1. Choose Your Favorite
Johnsonville Product

Buff used the Johnsonville Beef Brats to make his famous Summer Sausage Salad, which is a big fan favorite around here. In the past he used products that frankly, just weren’t that good; not this time. Johnsonville Fully Cooked Links are packed with flavor and unlike most others, Johnsonville uses absolutely no fillers for a juicy and firm texture and bite.

2. Summer Sausage Salad!

Johnsonville Sausage is proudly made using only premium cuts of pork to pack in the real flavor which makes them perfect for the following recipe. So here it is, Buff’s Summer Sausage Salad. Super fast, tasty and convenient.

*Slice 8 or 9 sweet peppers into bite size pieces (slice each pepper horizontally)
*Slice half of a large Vidalia onion in bite size pieces*
*Slice 4 Johnsonville Brats rendering 1/4 inch slices
*Toss all the ingredients with tablespoon of olive oil, teaspoon of sea salt, teaspoon of black pepper
*Over a very hot charcoal fire, grill everything in a grilling basket that has holes but doesn’t allow anything to fall into the fire.
*Toss constantly until you have a nice char on the sausage, peppers, and onions.

3. Share The YUM!

Like a lot of moms, I want to make sure the food I give my kids is made with the highest quality ingredients and Johnsonville has a legacy; their products have been served with pride since 1945!What we found great about Johnsonville products is that they’re equally delicious whether you’re doing something fancy, like Buff’s Summer Sausage Salad or having them as a quick go-to meal for a boy who’s appetite never ends.

Okay so whats your go-to Summer grilling’ recipe?
