10 Tips To Keep Your Sanity As A Stay-At-Home Mom

I’ve been a stay-at-home mother for three years and I’ve worked part time from home for about a year-and-a-half. With each day, I’m getting better at both gigs. This isn’t to say everything is perfect or that all my days go as planned. Just like everybody else, there are days I feel like I’m going to lose my last shred of sanity. But, I’ve learned two important things along the way: my experience as a SAHM is not the same today as it was a year ago (that’s a good thing!) and I’m the only person who can or will keep it together for me. Here are 10 things I do to keep my sanity as a stay-at-home mom.

 

1. Prioritize “Me” Time

“Me” time is hard to come by. Young children are so dependent for almost everything and tending to those things takes time. Throw two or more children into the mix and squeezing in time for yourself is next to impossible, but you have to find a way. Sometimes I take it when I can get it and sometimes I work it in around my husband’s schedule, but it really depends on what I need. On good days, I get the kids in bed early and read or watch TV. On even better days, I leave the house for a couple of hours by myself. Even grocery shopping can be “me” time when I don’t have to do it while corralling children.
