Moms Must Read:
Hot Summer Reads for Teens
Summer is a great time for kids to catch up on their reading! Teens especially seem to only want to sleep all day and then park themselves in front of their electronic devices in between meals. If you present them, however, with some hot summer reads, you might get their attention for longer than the 5 minutes it takes them to devour their food.
If you’re looking for a great read for yourself, you can share the excitement of these books with your teen. Don’t be put off by the Young Adult genre; it’s one of the best genres out there right now. There is no better way to spend quality time with your teen than laughing, sharing, and crying over a great book. Here are a few that I think are special.
1. The Fault In Our Stars By John Green
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.Don't let the summary mislead you. This book is not a sappy and sad story destined to make you weep. It is funny, uplifting, and will make you become a John Green fan too.
