Life Lessons – Military Appreciation Month
Amber Turner

Are you happy at the moment?

At the present moment? Yes…I am producing another show which is so much fun for me.

If you could go back and say anything to your 16 year old self now – what would it be?

You are beautiful and you can do anything you put your mind to. Don’t let others hold you back from reaching your full potential

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned this year?

Let it go….it is not always worth stressing over something you can’t change. Keep on with the keeping on!

What do you most want to achieve in the next 12 months?

Make my show as successful as possible and get into producing more shows for others.

What’s your secret to happiness?

Prayer, meditation and the gym

What one ritual or practice keeps you grounded?

Reflection…you don’t know where you are going if you don’t know where you came from. Staying grounded by remembering who made it possible for me to get there is what I practice.

What’s your biggest regret?

My biggest regret…is not enjoying my childhood/adolescence as I could have. I was so serious all the time. Too focused perhaps? Now, I realize how fast life passes us by, I try to live life in the best way possible. I have fun…I let loose…I am just goofy.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve taught your kid(s)?

Self-love…I had to learn it myself and it is my goal to teach them by example.

What bad habit would you most like to change about yourself?

I am addicted to gum. I am very cognizant of what I put into my body and that probably is the worse thing I put in my body.

Aside from motherhood and marriage what are you most proud of in your life?

I was able to discover my passion of video creation. Not everyone can do that. We can get too comfortable in our lives that we miss out. I stepped out and jump in with two feet into something I loved. I am creating my own opportunity. I LOVE that. I will not let my circumstances stop me from having a career.

When were you happiest?

Probably when I moved from my home town. I felt like it was a much needed fresh start.

What ten words best describe you?

Goofy, caring, fun, light-hearted, eclectic, eccentric, mother, wife, friend, gym-rat, healthnut,

What’s the most important thing you want civilians (or public) to know about Military families?

We are resilient and we need your support.

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
