Lupus Awareness Action Month


May is lupus awareness month. Lupus has recently been put in the spotlight because Nick Cannon was recently diagnosed with the condition and Toni Braxton discussed her journey on her reality show. The Lupus Foundation of America estimates that 1.5 million Americans, at least five million people worldwide, have some form of lupus. Men and women of all ages are diagnosed with lupus but 90% of patients are women. Let’s find out more information so we can all help to spread the word about lupus.

6. How is Lupus Treated?

Unfortunately there is no cure for lupus. Doctors treat the symptoms of lupus and encourage patients to control their stress level. Stress can bring on a lupus flare up.

Lastly, proper and good nutrition is important while being treated for lupus.

Please take this information and pass it on to your friends and family. Patients who do not receive treatment have irreversible organ damage that may have been avoided by treating the symptoms.
