6 Tips For Tackling Allergy Season
We’re just coming off what was a pretty brutal winter for much of the country. But the melting snow and warming temperatures are not a welcome sight for everyone because springtime means allergy season.
The spring 2014 allergy season could be the worst yet, but don’t we hear that every year? Are spring allergies truly on the rise? According to the scientists, meterologists and allergists, “A number of factors, such as weather patterns, predict how intense the spring allergy season will be,” said allergist Michael Foggs, MD, president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI). “While allergies are on the rise, affecting more and more Americans every year, each spring isn’t necessarily worse than the last.”
Many times we reach for over-the-counter medication, but there are some natural remedies that might do the trick, without side effects and cheaper to boot! Let’s see how we can get thru this allergy season unscathed….
PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION
If you choose OTC medication, start taking it before allergy season starts. Allergists advise starting your usual course of medication a week or two before the regular season. That way, the medicine will be in your system before the worst part of allergy season kicks in.
