The Proper Care And Feeding Of A Dream

Have you ever had a moment in your life when you thought, “Hey, I’m further along than I thought I was?”

I have; in fact, I had one last night.

I’m wrapping up a Sweet Retreats shoot in Jacksonville, Florida today but last night I had a chance to enjoy a meal at The Jacksonville Landing with awesome Good Enough Mother Blog Coordinator, Jackie Gailey.

There overlooking the St. John’s River, Jackie and I reminisced about a lot of things; how we first met at Disney Social Media Moms, how she first joined Good Enough Mother as an intern and about how critical her role is now. Underscore CRITICAL.

Jackie is one of two employees here at Good Enough Mother; the other is managing editor Alexis Trass Walker. We also have a marketing and PR team to help with campaigns and advertising.

In other words, we have an operation here. Yes, it’s small; yes sometimes I feel like it’s being held together by spit and bailing wire. But we have a full-fledged THING going on here!

And it feels pretty damn good!

So for this Monday Morning Motivation, more on the proper care and feeding of a dream!

REMEMBER WHAT THE DREAM WAS

And IS! Talking with Jackie reminded me of what my goal was in starting Good Enough Mother. My vision, way back in 2005, was to create a space for parents who understood you don't have to be perfect to be a great parent. I wanted to build a network of writers who would help further the discussion by presenting their diverse take on parenting and life. Lo and behold, that's exactly what we have here! Contributors from all walks of life writing about their take on parenting and life! And I LOVE it!

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
