*Are you happy at the moment?
Yes, life is good right now. I feel happy and inspired every day, even on those hard long days I am able to find a tool that will help me feel more relaxed. I have finally landed on my life’s path and mission and I feel guided, accomplished and fulfilled. I definitely feel like I am on the right path and that through it, I am helping myself and others.
*If you could go back and say anything to your 16-year-old self now – what would it be?
Those things that you try to hide the most, like your gifts and talents, are exactly what make you special and unique. By you trying to be like the rest, you are taking away your individuality and it may take you a long time to get back on track and connect to your true self. Have faith and courage to be the YOU that you are! You are beautiful and perfect just the way you are!
Never make a long term decision based on a temporary emotion; Even though right now it may look like you will always feel a certain way, it will pass. So while it does, love yourself and accept yourself every step of the way.
The first love you should have is you! fall in love with yourself and love YOU! Nobody and nothing will give you that love that you are looking for, until you give it to yourself first.
The more self-respect you have, the more others will respect you as well.
No matter what time it is, or where you end up at, it would never be too late or to far for your parents to go and pick you up. Never be afraid to call home and ask your family for help.
*What’s the most important thing you’ve learned this year?
This year I learned very important lessons related to relationships, boundaries, trust and how important and necessary it is to have a support system for women from women. That our system is not currently designed to help one another, nor to trust one another fully. I want to help and change that. This year I also learned how important it is for me to jump in and create different resources that will help men, women, children and youth because the ones that I have in mind are definitely not yet in place at the moment.
I have learned the importance of the balance between giving and receiving. How ready I am to do what I want to do, and how important it is to ask for help when you need it. That it is very important to set necessary boundaries; They exist for a reason and they are fundamental in business, relationships, friendship, family and for raising children.
*What do you most want to achieve in the next 12 months?
I want to finish writing my first book and to have it published. It is really important to me to begin all of the workshops and retreats for women that I have planned. To take my motivational speaking to more places and to more women. Nowadays women need so much help, to relax, learn to love, nurture and accept themselves.Times have changed, but our system hasn’t. I want to help change the dynamics that are currently in place, specially for the women that work and have children. I’d love to help them develop a dynamic/system, that would allow them to balance their career, rest and motherhood. To help and support specially in the field of love and relationships, as well as to offer tools to be able to deal with today’s stress related issues.
*What’s your secret to happiness?
It would have to be the ability of letting go of the expectation of things going according to a plan or a schedule, accepting what is and, to hold on to what went right on my day, on a daily basis. I am the mother of a child with ADHD + Chemical Imbalance. The chemical imbalance my daughter has is in the spectrum of Asperger’s Syndrome (She has almost no sense of boundaries, social skills or social cues) and Bipolar Disorder (She has very high intense emotions most of the time) . I can tell you one thing for sure, there are barely any days in my life where my mornings or days, when my plans or schedules end go according to what I had in mind or what I had planned. So I have to, on a regular basis, every day after I drop off my daughter to school, and after she goes to bed, let go of any lingering upset feelings and emotions and accept my day as it went. Focus on the love I feel for her, how much she loves me and, the moments when we connect o the same love frequency. At night, I look at my day and try to focus on what went right and I hold on to that. It is really important to me that people know that I am not happy because I have an easy life. My life is very busy and challenging. I choose to be happy and look at the bright side of most situations. When I go to bed, I forgive myself and others. I let go of the negatives and embrace the positives of my day, even if it is one thing only, I thank God and the Universe for it. Having expectations can be really detrimental, because while we are focusing all of our energy on our expectation, we are, many times, missing what we are getting from life or the gift of any given situation. Living with less or no expectations, allows me to live a more free, happy life.
*What one ritual or practice keeps you grounded?
A 10 to 15 minute meditation with relaxing music. You can use a mantra or any other music you find relaxing. I find many very interesting and useful meditation mantras on YouTube. After that, I take a shower and use a lavender and sea salt scrub on my body, It is cleansing and grounding at the same time.
*What’s your biggest regret?
Having lived with regrets in the past, because in the past, I would go to great lengths not to be open about my true thoughts and feelings. I am referring to when I was an adolescent. Now I go to great lengths to be open and upfront about them. Therefore, don’t have many regrets now. Regrets are limiting. We should avoid having regrets as much as possible. Having them blocks you from living a happy fulfilled life. If you didn’t do or say something, but you are still alive, go on and do or say that, which you regret not having done or said. There will be things that you won’t be able to change. Those are for you to get over them, forgive yourself, forgive others and move on.
*What’s the most important lesson you’ve taught your kid(s)?
To love. To love God, each other, this planet and the animals who live in it.
*What bad habit would you most like to change about yourself?
The habit of going to bed so late that I don’t always get enough sleep. I would like to begin to follow a schedule, I seem to be in the need of one. I am working on that for sure.
*Aside from motherhood/fatherhood and marriage what are you most proud of in your life?
I am really proud of my courage and inner strength. Proud, that I am finally open and free from my own judgment and the fear of others’ judgment. I am proud of myself because I have pursued my dreams and I am basically in the process of turning them into realities. I am not stopping at dreaming, I am landing into action.
*When were you happiest?
I am the happiest many days of my life and on a regular basis. I am constantly happy and for many different reasons, but there are reasons that make me happy often and they are:
Hugging my daughters and spending quality time with them.
The feeling of accomplishment and joy I get after a motivational speech I give, specially afterwards when people tell me how much it helped them and the difference in made in their lives.
The feeling that I actually make a difference in the world and offering unconditional love to others.
Changing and saving the world, one person at the time or one group at the time. 🙂
When I graduated from my career, my wedding and definitely the births of my two daughters are also among the happiest times of my life.
