Are you happy at the moment?
Yes, I am extremely happy. I would be happier if I were on a yacht on my way to Italy, but this will do- for now.
If you could go back and say anything to your 16-year-old self now – what would it be?
Breathe. It will get better; and easier. I had my first child when I was 16, and I remember feeling horribly overwhelmed and confused.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned this year?
Taking a break from it all really does help. This doesn’t mean I get in my car and leave everything behind, but it does mean that I have learned that I need to disconnect, stand back and realize how far I have come.
What do you most want to achieve in the next 12 months?
I would like to continue to push my business to new heights. I would also like to become a household name when it comes to raising twins. I know my name is a bit of a tongue twister, but I could change it to Julia with an “X” (insert big grin here).
What’s your secret to happiness?
The moment I read this question, Dory (from Finding Nemo) came to mind. Remember her song “Just keep swimming…?” Well, that’s my secret. No matter what happens, just keep swimming.
What one ritual or practice keeps you grounded?
My children keep my grounded. Just when I think I have this whole “parenting” thing down, they show me otherwise. I remember writing an article about avoiding tantrums, and that very same day one of my twins broke down to the point that I was in tears. Never get cocky, my people.
What’s your biggest regret?
Not serving my country. I always wanted to join the military, but obstacles and life always got in the way.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve taught your kid(s)?
There is no limit to what you can do or become. Limits and boundaries are often set in your mind.
What bad habit would you most like to change about yourself?
I would like to be able to put things on the back burner. I feel like every idea that comes into my head has to be completed before the day ends. Aside from motherhood/fatherhood and marriage what are you most proud of in your life? I’m proud of the fact that I started Stuff 4 Multiples from the ground up. It has come a long way since the night in 2009 that I woke up my husband to tell him that I wanted to sell funny twin shirts online.
When were you happiest?
I am currently the happiest that I have ever been. I have four wonderful children, an amazing husband who is supportive (and a wonderful cook), and a business that is expanding every day.
What ten words best describe you?
Ambitious, energetic, direct, fearless, passionate, workaholic, foodie (Is that even a word?), loyal, loving and clumsy!
