4 Reasons To Take Your Kid To See Pippin! (VIDEO)
From the very moment the curtain was raised, Casey and I knew we were in for a treat. Now, you know it had to be special if I was able to extricate the aforementioned teen from her lair, aka room. Casey is a performer; she’s also a teen which means sleep is sacred to her. So it had to be pretty special for me to get her up dressed and on a train to the city. And that’s just what Pippin was. With beautiful scenery and breathtaking stunts (we gasped several times and I was insanely jealous of all the performers’ muscle tone), Pippin is a seriously fun musical. Now, I must warn you, it’s not for little kids; there is a fair amount of grown-up humor in it. But my Casey is nearly an adult so it wasn’t too embarrassing…for me, anyway. Okay so here are 4 reasons I think parents and older children should make it a point to see Pippin.
1. THE STORY RESONATES
I mean, really, who among us hasn’t felt like this before? Wondering, searching for that place where we belong? Without giving too much away, Pippin centers around a young man named.. Pippin (naturally) who is searching for something that will give his life meaning. After several attempts at fun, exciting, even dangerous avenues, he settles on something more stable and mundane (I’m trying not to give too much away). The restlessness drives him away once again until he finally realizes what and where true happiness lies. Casey and I talked about it after the show. Yes, happiness doesn’t start when you have the perfect job or are at the ideal weight; it is sometimes where you least expect it.

3. A CHANCE TO BOND WITH THE KID!
I know she doesn’t look thrilled here (blame it on the incessant selfies taken by her mother), but my oldest really was excited to be taking in a show. You know they spend so much time in movie theaters and in front of screens, watching a live performance really was magical. It was for me too, as I kept peering over at her, thrilled to see her grinning from ear-to-ear. It was a great time for mother and daughter.

4. IT JUST MIGHT IGNITE A PASSION!
We had a chance to speak with a couple of the performers after the show. Charlotte D’Aboise who plays Fastrada, King Charles wife and Pippin’s step-mother and Rachel bay Jones who plays Catherine. Both of them are mothers, and as the mother of a performing daughter, I asked them what we as parents could do to help foster a creative spirit in our children. Here’s what they both said.
