We’ve had a lot of fun this week showcasing some of the things mom would love for Mother’s Day.  Sometimes we spend a lot of time and money on gifts. Mom is totally worth it, of course, but sometimes she just wants small, practical things. Does that sound like your mother? If she’s the keep-it-simple type, give her any one of these 10 gifts. They’re what she really wants.

Between taking pictures of the kids or receiving pictures of the grandchildren, mom could probably use more pictures frames. Give her several frames in different sizes so she always has one handy when a new picture arrives.

Candles don’t just provide light; they can scent the room and add ambience. There’s just something about candles that melt the day’s stress away. Your mom will love a beautiful set that will make her think of you every time she lights them.

Speaking of melting the stress away, a hot bath with scented bubbles is the next best thing to being at the spa. Anyone who likes relaxing in the tub will appreciate a new bottle of bubble bath or soak.

Would your mom like dinner and a movie with you? If so, would you go out or rent movies and order takeout? Or would your mom prefer to fly solo? (On your dime, of course!) Dinner and a movie is a classic weekend activity, so you really can’t go wrong with it.

Does your mom have a favorite TV show—a show she just can’t miss no matter what? Give her a set of DVDs. I’m a huge Sex and the City fan, and my husband bought me the collector’s edition of the complete series for my first Mother’s Day in 2007. It still stands as the best Mother’s Day gift so far because it was something I really wanted.

8. BREAKFAST IN BED

We spend most of lives being told by our mothers not to eat in bed and when we become mothers we teach our children not to do it. For that reason, there’s something that’s a bit forbidden about breakfast in bed. And, hey, who doesn’t love somebody bringing a meal to you as soon as you open your eyes?
