How did you first find out you had cancer?
My diagnosis was made by FDA-approved Thermography, not mammography. Thermography detects heat in cancer cells quicker than a mammogram, even years before a mammogram is capable. I had two cancerous tumors in my right breast.
How did you react when you heard the news?
I felt like I’d been hit by an emotional tornado, earthquake, and tsunami combined. However, I prayed for guidance and my prayers were answered.
What course of treatment were you prescribed?
After seeing a conventional breast surgeon and receiving what I interpreted as fear tactics about my prognosis, I decided to take the holistic cancer treatment regimen, and I outgrew two cancerous tumors in my right breast next to nothing, as confirmed by sonograms.
What most surprised you about your treatment?
Nothing. I was not sick a day and that’s why I’m sharing that cancer can be dealt with holistically. Cancer is a word, not a sentence, I say. I wrote a book about my cancer odyssey and treatment, A Cancer Answer, Holistic BREAST Cancer Management, A Guide to Effective & Non-Toxic Treatments.
What would your advice be to anyone who’s just received a cancer diagnosis?
Do your research and homework to find out what’s available besides the conventional cancer treatment route of surgery-radiation-chemotherapy. Plus, I would encourage any woman, or man, who has breast cancer to read my book, A Cancer Answer, to find out what can help and empower you to get well, even if you go the surgery-radiation-chemo route.
How long have you been cancer free?
Relatively recently. Tests and markers are normal. I still need another evaluation in December 2012 before we stop holistic treatments.
What lessons did you learn from the experience?
We have inner resources that can work for us if only we allow our bodies to work with nature and not against the natural healing process endowed by our Creator.
If you could send one message to all the Good Enough Mothers out there – what would it be?
You have to take charge of your health. You must change lifestyle and diet to win the battle going on in your body, which has been overtaken by a disease that reflects just how badly the body has been ‘attacked’ by chemicals, poor diet, genetics, and psychological distresses, in most cases. The more responsibility you take for regaining your health, the better your results will be. And, last but not least, don’t let anyone get into your head and frighten you. You have to become a brave warrior who wins the battle. I know. I did. So can you.
Catherine J Frompovich is a 74-year-old consumer healthcare researcher for 35 years and counting, who knows the track records for both conventional and holistic health cancer treatments. She chose the holistic route because she did not want to experience the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, which she explains in her book A Cancer Answer, Holistic BREAST Cancer Management, A Guide to Effective & Non-Toxic Treatments. As with everything in life, there always is another way of doing things. Catherine’s informed choice was an effective and safe way for treating two cancerous tumors in her right breast. She went the holistic/complementary medicine route from the beginning and has not regretted it. Catherine’s story may be unusual, but she thinks women need to know there are options.
