Whew! We did it. Summer is over and the kids are back in school. But something is missing. Oh, yeah, cash! The money you spent on your summer vacation has left you feeling the pinch. Well, here are a few things you and your family can do now to save for next year’s summer memories.
1. Assess your budget. Do you take the same vacation every year? Take your receipts for airline, hotel, gas, food and even souvenirs and go over the money you spent. Is there somewhere you can cut a corner or two? If you travel throughout the year on business you may want to rack up points, or try changing to another credit card that will give you perks and points on flights and lodging. Did you rent a car that you can downgrade to a hybrid if you just choose another rental company?
