Olympic champion Gabby Douglas has spent her career (yes, at 16 she has a career) learning how to do what others tell her, how to literally toe the line, and how to remain cool under pressure, something she does well. I had never heard of her prior to the London games so I did a little research. Wow! Talk about a confident youngster. Gabby left her family home in Virginia Beach, Virginia at age 14, and moved across country to live with another family and train so that she could chase her dreams. Impressive, yes, and it made me curious about her mother and how we, as parents, can foster that type of curiousity, creativity and confidence in our own kids.
