What Makes A Marriage Work? THIS!

I was reading the other day about actress Nia Long, who graces the cover of Essence Magazine. In the interview she said the reason she’s still single, was in part because she, “…has never seen a marriage work.”

Why is that? I think it’s because in our microwave society, we want everything fast and easy. Life, well, real life anyway, isn’t that way; there are just some things for which there are no shortcuts. Making a marriage work, is one of those things. You can read the rest of the lessons I learned over at my weekly column on Babble.com. And leave a comment over there; I’d love to hear what you’ve learned about what makes a marriage work!

I am going to leave my real comment over at Babble, but I wanted to say that I have been thinking about this non-stop since I first read it.

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
