Life Lessons: J. Renee’ LaCour

It’s Life Lessons time again! Meet my friend, J. Renee’ LaCour. J. Renee’ and I go back a way, and I’m pleased and proud to be able to call this remarkably talented woman my friend. I’m excited for the great things on her horizon; read on to find out more. Are you happy at the moment?

Yes…I am.

If you could go back and say anything to your 16-year-old self now – what would it be?

Try to think about and plan for the future a little more.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned this year?

Pain is a part of living…no human being can avoid some level of pain at some time in his/her life.    Suffering is a choice we make.  I learned I could  “stop suffering…by letting it go.”

What do you most want to achieve in the next 12 months?

I want to be a best-selling author who makes an excellent living writing interesting novels.

What’s your secret to happiness?

Spiritual grounding.  Performing acts of love and kindness.  Making time everyday to be quiet and appreciate IT ALL.

What one ritual or practice keeps you grounded?

Daily quiet time and spiritual studies/practices.

What’s your biggest regret?

That I didn’t have a better relationship with my great aunt (adopted mother) while she was alive.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve taught your kid(s)?

Love is a verb.  It’s not what you say, but what you do that demonstrates love.

What bad habit would you most like to change about yourself?

Being fussy when I’m PMSing.

Aside from motherhood/fatherhood and marriage what are you most proud of in your life?

The ability to embrace change.

When were you happiest?

I’m thrilled any time I’ve gone to Jamaica and Europe.

What ten words best describe you?

Loving, gentle, spiritual, creative, easy-going, adaptable, inquisitive, trust-worthy, genuine, humorous.
