Think of this as a pubic service announcement. In case you haven’t checked the calendar, Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I’m telling you now, it’s a really bad idea to go tearing out of the driveway on the 14th at 7 pm, thinking you’ll find the “perfect gift”. No one works THAT well under pressure.
I attended an event the other night held by the Accessories Council, a not-for-profit organization that raises awareness about fashion accessories. So I’m going to raise your awareness right now with some gift ideas for everyone on your list. You can thank me later. Ready? Here we go.
SPROUT WATCH: It not only looks good, it’s good for the earth too. Made from 100% biodegradable corn resin, which uses no oil in production, it will naturally biodegrade in a compost environment. This is the men’s version, which has a day/date window, luminous tip hands and comes in a variety of fade out colored dials. Reasonably priced at 65 bucks; you can find it at sproutwatches.com, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, and Nordstrom.
MAVI EYEZ CUFFLINKS: Check these out. These cufflinks represent the universal “Evil Eye” good luck charm and each one is handcrafted with handmade glass beads from Turkey; no two are exactly the same. Buff fell in love with the pair I brought home. You can find them at mavieye.com for 40 bucks a pair.
I’m not a big fan of receiving lingerie as a present because I always feel like that’s more a gift for Buff than for me. However, this comfy Eberjey Lady Godiva nightie would be the exception. Made of super soft jersey, it looks great with the bits of lace and a cute bow. Comes in 5 colors too; 66 bucks at eberjey.com.
When I left that TV gig behind, I was glad to say good-bye to that heavily made up look too. These days, I’m more prone to just pencil in my brows and brush on a little bronzer, so I was happy to see the Jing Ai Sierra Glow Duo Bronzer in Halo Sunset with Wildflower seed paper. Each one is named after a rose, in honor of the founder’s grandmother. Gluten-free and made with certified organic ingredients, it’s nice and light, giving a finished but not overly done–up. $28.00, available at jingaiskin.com.
DROOL! I love these charm necklaces by Stella + Dot. You can also add can also add your birthstone pendant to the zodiac sign. Between $19-$49 at stelladot.com.
Attention! You can’t go wrong with jewelry, especially when it looks like this! I love these aqua boho drop earrings from Baublebar. made with semi-precious stones. They only LOOK expensive; 28 bucks at baublebar.com.
FOR THE LITTLE HER:
Here’s something for the teen girl in your life. Casey snatched the Candy Store Cosmetic Mirror and I haven’t seen it since. The bright colors make them cool, but they’re also durable since they’re made from silicone. And the price can’t be any more right; 13 bucks at Henri Bendel, Macy’s, and Ulta.
FOR THE LITTLE HIM:
We can’t have a Valentine’s Day without chocolate, now, can we? I barely got these Godiva Truffles in the door before Cole took off with them. Great buy at under $5.00, even better taste. You can pick them up at most drugstores.
There you go, a few ideas for the big holiday; don’t say I didn’t at least TRY to help. What’s your go-to Valentine’s Day gift? Will you try something different this year or go with the tried and true? And show of hands; will Champagne and chocloate be a part of it? Lemme hear ya!
