As you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we’ve been doing our part around here to talk about the myths and facts of the disease and celebrate those who’ve battled and won. But finding a cure takes more than awareness; it also takes money. So Good Enough Mother took part in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk today.
I was actually there with my daughter’s volleyball team and I’m so encouraged by their awareness. Wouldn’t it be great to have a cure in their lifetime?

I chatted briefly with this woman. She’s a three-year survivor. Breast cancer is among the more treatable forms of cancer when caught early.
And the moment that moved me to tears was this couple, a mom and dad, walking in memory of their daughter, who died a year ago at age 36. Debbie’s now 17-year-old daughter was walking too. Breast cancer is primarily a disease of aging women but young women are diagnosed too.
You know we have made great strides against breast cancer but the fact is thousands of people still die every year from the disease. That has to change and we have to see that it does. Won’t you please help?
