There’s a video making its way around the Internet and on Facebook and it found its way to Good Enough Mother’s page. I feel compelled to share it with you and if you don’t cry all the way through, you’d better get to a doctor and make sure you still have a heart. Yes, it is that powerful.

We’ve seen these soldier’s surprise homecomings in the news a lot; so much so that I think, like so many things we are exposed to, they began to all look the same and lose their meaning. Then along comes this one, actually a series of these homecomings, set to music.

I think what it reminds us is that, no matter where you stand on the wars that are being fought, we have to remember that there is a human toll behind the statistics. There are families left behind, who miss their loved one and wonder if they will ever see them again.

I love this video because there are some common traits in all of the homecomings. I love to see the ones where the person being surprised is trying to take it all in, not sure if the soldier standing in front of them is really daddy or mommy, son or daughter or if their mind is playing tricks on them. The next move brings me to tears each time I see it. They nuzzle into the neck of each other, like they cannot get close enough. Then they hold on like they will never, ever let go again.

Coming from a military family, I just want to say thank you; to the men and women whose job it is to fight and for the families trying to keep it together on the home front. Your sacrifice is great and it does not go unnoticed.
