Good Enough Mother’s kids are scoping out stuff online again. (Man I gotta get them outside more). Anyway, this is their latest offering. It comes from the fine folks at The Second City Network

The setup for the video is simple – fairytale staple ‘The Little Mermaid’ explains some of the life lessons she’s learned over the years – and it’s amazing how un-PC so many of them are!

I thought it was pretty funny and I loved the subtle way they poke fun at some of the things we see coming from big screen cartoon offerings. Like this for example, “Don’t ever talk to a man unless he kisses you on the lips first. Then as a woman, you’re allowed.” Then there’s this sage advice. “If you have a father that loves you, run away from him.”

Now obviously this is tongue-in-cheek and good for a chuckle (though I did turn red when listening to the part about baby talk to a man as my daughter was watching over my shoulder) but we also know that many a truth is said in jest. Do these parrot some of the more subtle messages targeted at young girls via various forms of media? Yes? No? Or does Good Enough Mother need to back away from her wine glass?
