What to say

Someone in my office keeps giving me advice on how to raise my 3 year old daughter. Finally, one day I said "you know, you're right, you're much better at this than me. So what time should I drop her off at your house to raise."

Hmm, perhaps an "And if I were your mother..." comment would stop Lil Miz Busybody in her tracks. Sigh, I never have the nerve to say it in person.

I would simply say, " she isn't your daughter, God gave her to me but thank you for the advice anyway.

interesting how people can decide to settle what is wrong in your life. My saying is. What is your address, I will send you all my bills, then you can tell me how to live my life>

My favorite way to stop people is to say "Fascinating idea!" and leave it at that. OR "what an interesting idea". It ends the conversation and you can go on and do whatever you feel best.

I usually say something like:

"The world would be a pretty boring place if we were all exactly the same. Isn't individuality a good thing?"

Then again....I bite my tongue to NOT say... "well, she isn't your child, is she? *cough*and thank god for that*cough*"

:)

But I like your approach....did she quit pestering you?

Great Book!

I bought this as a gift for my best friend who is a new mommy-to-be.

What a great idea for a book! There is so much pressure out there for women to be perfect-the perfect employee, the perfect wife, the perfect daughter, the perfect friend, and the perfect mother. This book explains that it's ok to have your own style. Be sure and read the last chapter!
