You Gotta Take The Shot!

Hey everyone.. Happy Monday!

Hope you are are well and warm; we are digging out from Winter Storm Jonas and it is not a lot of fun. Here’s a peek at the snow at my house!

Wanted to come to you with a super quick message.

I was having a discussion with a friend recently about an event happening in a couple of weeks when she told me something I found very interesting.

She told me that while she would come to the event, she didn’t feel like she was ready to be there.

What? WHOA!

I stopped her right there. Because here’s the thing. You won’t ever be ready if you think like that.

Hockey great Wayne Gretzky said it best and it really needs to be a motto for life: you miss 100% of the shots you never take.

In this case with my friend, she’s going to be doing something she has never done before. She’s stepping outside her comfort zone (WAY outside) and it’s terrifying. Rightfully so. But the only way to conquer that fear is to just do it. While she may not be able to do all that is required, doing at least a part of it makes her a winner. It also helps build the platform from which other successes will come.

But honestly, I can’t think of anything more tragic than counting yourself out before you even begin.

So I told my friend that there is no harm in trying; the real harm comes in NOT trying.

She got it and decided to give it a go.

The part she doesn’t realize is that just doing what she can, no matter how little, makes her victorious.

That’s today’s Monday Motivation. What about you; how do you feel/handle things that are foreign to you? Do you give it a go or count yourself out before trying?
