Life Lessons:

*Are you happy at the moment?

I am HAPPY. I find happiness when Billy Joel’s “Under Pressure” plays on the radio as all three children start screaming.

*If you could go back and say anything to your 16 year old self now – what would it be?

You cannot screw up your life. There may be a more direct route to get from point A to C, but if you want to get there, you will. You are NEVER going to miss the boat to success. It will aways be waiting for you, when you are ready to board it. The opportunity for you to succeed is a CONSTANT.

*What’s the most important thing you’ve learning this year?

Trust. You’re good enough, just as you are. YOU, are enough to attract and receive EXACTLY what it is that you say you want. Believe in yourself.

*What do you most want to achieve in the next 12 months?

Self Compassion. Armed with that self compassion, I will be able to contribute more to the things that matter most to me, being a patient mother, loving wife and strong business owner.

*What’s your secret to happiness?

Gratitude, for every moment. I’ve become a master at finding happiness in nearly any situation.

*What one ritual or practice keeps you grounded?

Breathing. My breath is an indicator of what I’m experiencing and how I’m experiencing it. Breathing helps me to return to my center and stay grounded in that heart-centered space.

*What’s your biggest regret?

Chasing the advice and being too heavily influenced by the opinions of others. It is painful to follow someone else’s formula. It leads to self doubt and fear.

*What’s the most important lesson you’ve taught your kids?

Your energy matters. The energy you choose to approach life with is the energy reflected back at you.

*What bad habit would you most like to change about yourself?

Staying up late. I’ve gotten into a bad habit of staying up. I want to change this dynamic and be more diligent about giving myself more time to rest.

*Aside from motherhood/fatherhood and marriage what are you most proud of in your life?

Two years ago, I woke up feeling trapped. In that moment after laying awake with it for 2 hours, I told myself, “You can either do something about this, or you can lay here and let this feeling continue.” That morning, I went for a run. I was NOT a runner. Nearly one year later, I completed my first marathon. I crossed that finish line feeling the power of what I had done, I took “impossible” and made it my reality.

*What ten words best describe you?

Evolving. Multi-faceted. Playful. Uncontainable. Free-Spirit. Human Sparkler of Love. Intuitive. Passionate. Heart-centered. Seeker.

Combing the aisles at Target in search of the best deal on Cheerios, it hit Rene Syler like the stench of a dirty diaper on a hot summer’s day. Not only is perfection overrated its utterly impossible! Suddenly empowered, she figuratively donned her cape, scooped up another taco kit for dinner and Good Enough Mother was born.
