I’ve never really been much of a car person; they were things that got me from point A to point B. There was a time I worried about that journey being stylish. Now, as the mother of two teens, two cats and a big Yellow Lab, I still like style but let’s be honest; functionality reigns supreme. Many of you who follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram know all about my travels up and down I-95 with said menagerie in tow.
The thing is (and I’ve said it before), we are big people; even my little people are big; bigger than me, in fact, much to my chagrin. So we need a car built for space and comfort; if it’s stylish too, well that’s a bonus.
A few years ago, I bought my first American-made car, a GMC Yukon XL and fell in love. It’s got great features, creature comforts and it’s roomy (hey, I told you we were big people).
Sadly, it’s also filled with dog hair, fast food wrappers and has thousands and thousands of miles on it.
So when the folks at GMC asked me to take a trip out west to test drive the Yukon XL Denali, the Terrain Denali and the Acadia Denali (pretty ones. Read: not filled with dog hair and fast food wrappers) as part of the Denali Dream Drive, how could I possibly say no?
But that was just one of the highlights; not only did we get to drive the vehicles through the beautiful mountains of South Lake Tahoe, we took them right on up to the doorstep of the 2014 HGTV Dream Home in the Schaffer’s Mill near Truckee, CA. The cars were cool, the house was beautiful, the scenery, breathtaking plus there was one really big a bonus from the trip for me.
Well here, hop in back, put your seat belt on and I’ll take you for a spin..
